Building character. Testing excellence.
Margo Divinskaya is native of Ukraine. She holds a Bachelor's Degree in Piano Performance and Pedagogy from the Kiev State R. Glier College of Music. She greatly appreciates her teachers, who provide her with the inspiration she needs to teach her own students: O. Lotova, R. Gindin, A. Kozlov, V. Podvala. For 10 years, she worked at the Kiev State Music School for Children, where she taught all levels and performed solo and chamber repertoire for concerts, tests and festivals. During these years, she also played for a ballet group, where students were being prepared to join Ukrainian National Folk Dance Company. Her experience working with ballet has convinced her of the need to train students in the feeling of movement embedded in all music. Since moving to Houston, Ms. Divinskaya has been teaching piano and general music privately and in numerous area schools.
Because of her wide international experience, she uses the best proven methods from Russian and American schools of pedagogy. Her students participate in a variety of tests and events conducted by Houston Music Teachers Association, HISD, as well as the American College of Musicians. In 2007, two of her students won third place at the International Level for writing an original musical play for the middle school division of Odyssey of the Mind. Ms. Divinskaya also continues to play for various ballet groups. She has worked for the Houston Ballet, Society for the Performing Arts, the University of Houston, Southwest Ballet Festivals, HSPVA, the Jeoffrey Ballet, and the Twin City Ballet to name several. Ms. Divinskaya is hoping to bring the best of her experience and knowledge to her students and help them develop a lifelong love and appreciation for music.
