ACADEMY STUDENT ACCOMPLISHMENTS
Trinity Yun and Jinqiu Wei have won Honorable Mention prizes at the Tenth International Chopin Youth Competition.
Trinity Yun won First Place at the South Chopin International Piano Competition and Third place at the Third Place at the Rochelle Leibling Kahan Prodigy
Congratulations to William Fan for becoming Houston Young Artists, one of the most coveted titles for young musicians in Houston.
Magen Zeng is invited to perform at the Carnegie Hall in New York in October of 2016 and April of 2017 as a winner of the American Protege Competition. This will be her fourth performance on the most prestigious stage in America.
Jinqui Wei was awarded Second Place at the South Chopin International PIano Competition.

Tomás Jonsson rocks Texas! This year Tomas won several of the hardest and most coveted competitions in Texas: 1st place award in the 9th grade solo division TMTA (Texas Music Teacher's Association). The biggest deal in Texas! He also won 1st Place in the Baylor-Waco Piano Competition 9th Grade Solo Division
The Winning Team! After winning the state and regional levels of MTNA competition, Kenneth Yu and Kerrigan Quenemoen represented the South Central division of the MTNA Natioanl Convention in the Las Vegas Competition. Rachel shines at Carnegie Hall! Rachel Yang performed at Carnegie Hall in New York City ! She was selected to perform after winning First Prize with special honors at the 2014 Sonatina and Sonata International Youth Competition held in Corpus Christi, Texas.
Andrew Sun and Sarana Zhang duet team won First Prize in HMTA duet competition and Second Prize in in the Kawai-SNG International Competition
Tomás Jonsson won the Grand Prize in the Kawai-SNG International Competition in which competitors came from China to participate. He was awarded a Music Doing Good Scholarship in 2015 to continue his studies. He was also selected as a Houston Young Artist for the 2015-16 Season.
Kenneth Yu performed a charity concert benefiting the Make-a-Wish foundation. The concert was organized by Katherine Yu, and featured solo music and duet music with his partner Kerrigan Quenemoen. They were interviewed by Channel 13 TV and raised over $15,000 for the foundation. Read More.
Together with Matthew and Katarina Loudermilk they toured China performing for the Dreams Come True Charity, sponsoring music education for blind Chinese children.
Autumn Watt, Francis Patience and William Fan Humfrey Xu, Sarana Zhang and Haeyun Lee were named finalists in the Kawai-SNG Piano Competition.
Tomás Jonsson performed Mozart's 23rd Piano Concerto with the Clear Lake Symphony Orchestra in March as a winner of the orchestra's concerto competition.
Tomás also won 2nd prize in his division of the Baylor-Waco Concerto Competition in 2014.
Tomás also performed at Miller Outdoor Theatre, and at the Russian Cultural Center's " An Evening With Hans Graf. "
Estelle Yan won second place at the 2014 Houston Tuesday Musical Club Kahan Prodigy Competition in Houston. In April, she performed for the Tuesday Musical Club luncheon.
Karon Kim was the Gold Medal Winner of the Eighth International Chopin Youth Competition , held in Houston in October 2013. Karon, 2nd grade, competed against students grades 1-6 and was selected by a panel of distinguished judges for her expressive interpretations of Chopin's music.
Society for the Performing Arts invited our students to provide the performance prelude at Wortham Center for Russian Pianist Vadym Kholodenko, First Prize Winner of the 14th Van Cliburn Competion in September 2014
The International Music Academy, in partnership with the Society for the Performing Arts, Wortham Center provided eight students to perform at the Wortham Center on February 13, 2013 as the prelude for Benjamin Grovesnor. Our school was also selected for an outreach experience with Mr. Grovesnor where students and parents had the opportunity to meet with him and ask questions about his experiences as a student and concert pianist.
William Fan was selected as first prize winner in the Young Artist Piano Competition . Held in San Marcos, TX in February 2013. This competition attracts the best students from around the state of Texas.
Tomás Jonsson was one of only two solo pianists from Houston chosen to be in the Houston Young Artist Program for 2013-2014. With his brother, violinist Marco Jonsson, Tomas performed at Miller Outdoor Theatre and was heard live on KUHA in January of 2013.
Rachel Yang won Second Place in the Houston Tuesday Musical Club's Rochelle Liebling Kahan Prodigy Competition , February 2013. This competition is for gifted 6-9 year olds and draws Houston's most talented youngsters.
Annabelle Bachrach, Loren Chang, Treed Huang, Francis Patience, Ben Sato-Singh, Autumn Watt, Jinqiu Wei and Humphrey Xu were awarded the top score of 1+ at the Forum Auditions, December 2012.
Estelle Yan won First Place in the Joyce Cochran Piano Competition April 2012.
Gaon Kim won Second Place in the Rochelle Kahan Piano Prodigy Competition, April 2012.
Gaon Kim won Third Prize and Kenneth Yu and Tomas Jonsson won Honorable Mention in the Texas State Piano Competition held in San Marcos, February 2012.
Tomás Jonsson won the Silver Medal and was awarded the special award for Best Prelude at the 2011 International Chopin Youth Competition.
Kerrigan Quenemoen, Tomas Jonsson, Autumn Watt, Sanath Govindarajan, Mark Trautner, Ben Sato-Singh and Gaon Kim performed in Jones Hall as part of the Society for the Performing Arts Performance Prelude series, October 2011.

The International Music Academy was chosen by Society for the Performing Arts to host a masterclass for their violin students with Itamar Zorman, the winner of Russia's famous Tchaikovsky Competition in March 2012.
The Society for the Performing Arts invited our school to provide opening music for Yuja Wang's piano concert on October 12th, and then again on November 11th. Eight of our students performed at Jones Hall!
Ben Liu and his trio won the Fidelity Future Stage Music Competition in 2010. Their trio shared the stage with the Houston Symphony! Read more here.
