Yong Goo KimPiano

Yong Goo Kim studied piano at Vanderbilt’s Blair School of Music and Middle Tennessee State
University, where he worked with professors Dr. Craig Nies, Ms. Kay Rhee, Dr. Lynn Rice-See
and Dr.Arunesh Nadgir. He has received numerous awards and honors, including the Superior
Prize at the National Se-Kwang Piano Competition in Korea, second prize at the Chattanooga
Piano Competition, and the Superior Plus award at the Nashville Area Teachers Association and
TMTA competitions.  He has performed for Dr. Robert McDonald of Julliard and Dr. Zenon
Fishbein of the Manhattan School of Music, as well as alongside Grammy-nominated cellist and
songwriter Matt Slocum.  Mr.Kim received his Master of Music Degree in Piano Performance at
the University of Houston’s Moores School of Music where he studied with Dr.Tali Morgulis. He
was also a scholarship student and graduate assistant.  He strives to perform piano in a way that
inspires and touches people’s hearts, as well as to teach students so that they can know how
joyful and wonderful it is to be able to express emotions, images, words, and scenes through
their instrument.
